In-House British Sign Language (BSL) Translator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated British Sign Language (BSL) Translator to join our team. As an in-house BSL translator, you will be responsible for ensuring effective communication for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. You will play a crucial role in making our workplace more inclusive and accessible.
This role is specifically for Signapse, a leader in AI-driven sign language technology. As part of the team, you will help bridge the communication gap using advanced BSL technologies and AI, ensuring the most seamless communication experiences.
Key Responsibilities
– Provide in-house British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation and translation for various internal and external meetings, events, training sessions, and communications.
– Translate written materials into BSL and vice versa.
– Assist with the creation of BSL content for our digital platforms, ensuring accessibility for all users.
– Work closely with the HR, diversity and inclusion teams to foster an accessible and inclusive environment for deaf employees and stakeholders.
– Offer on-demand interpretation support for impromptu meetings or discussions.
– Support deaf employees and customers in navigating workplace policies, practices, and communications.
Qualifications and Skills
– Fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) with a recognized qualification (minimum Level 6 or equivalent).
– Proven experience as a BSL interpreter or translator, preferably in a professional setting.
– Strong understanding of deaf culture and the communication needs of deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
– Experience in working with diverse teams and clients, providing effective communication solutions.
– Ability to translate complex ideas and conversations accurately into BSL.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
– Familiarity with AI and technology-driven solutions in sign language translation is an advantage.
Role Requirements
– Full-time position, based at our office (remote working may be considered for the right candidate).
– Must be available for occasional travel to support company events or client meetings.
